Coach Jim Holecek

Coach Jim Holechek led these young men through a pressure-filled season in which they won the city, conference, and district titles. Ironically, it was one mid-season dual loss to Fremont that some members of the squad remember most, and many believe propelled them to the state title in February, 1970. This state title is historic because it was the first State Championship earned by any East High athletic team.
