1987-88 BOYS SWIM AND DIVE TEAM:
The 1987-88 Boys Swim and Dive Team was a remarkable group of athletes. Due to having a good
number of multi-sport athletes on the team, it took them time to get in pool shape, and to allow for this
talented group to reach their potential when it mattered most, at the State Meet. At the State Swim and
Dive Meet, SIX school records were broken, paced by a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 Freestyle, and a 2-3-4
finish in diving to pave the way to the State Championship trophy, and winning East's first Boys
Swimming & Diving State Championship!
Several individuals reached All-American status:
1st Team All-American:
-Jason Baumann in 1-Meter Diving
2nd Team All-American:
-Paul Larsen in 1-Meter Diving
-Dave Peters in the 50 Freestyle
-Dave Peters, Mark Graves, Kyle Luthans, and Mike Gruber in the 400 Freestyle relay
The coaches of the 1987-88 Boys Swim and Dive team, were Swim Coaches Greg Fleming and Tim
Brown, and Dive Coach Gary Cox.
