Jim Ebke was a standout all-around athlete for the Spartans, earning letters in Football, Basketball, Track, Baseball, and Soccer over the course of his career. While he earned All-State Honorable Mention honors in Basketball and Soccer, it was on the gridiron that Ebke truly excelled. In 2006 Jim was the Class A Total Offense Leader and tied a state Class A record by scoring six touchdowns in a single game. That season, Ebke was honored as the Super State Honorary Captain/Offensive Player of the Year by both the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World Herald. He was a finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman for Nebraska, he won the Gatorade Nebraska Football Player of the Year, and he was selected to play in the 2007 Shrine Game. At the end of his career Ebke held eight East High school records in football, including career total offense and career scoring. Coach John Gingery said of Ebke, “He only had one gear, and that was high.” Ebke went on to earn two football letters at the University of Nebraska, where he was a 3-time Special Teams captain and an Academic All-Big 10 honoree. Ebke continues to be active in the football community in Lincoln.

Thank you East Athletic Boosters for your endless support of our Spartans!
