Rachel Schwartz was a three-year starter for the Spartan volleyball team, and ended her career as Lincoln East’s all-time leader in kills, digs, and hitting percentage. Rachel was named to the Journal-Star All-City Team three times, and was honored as captain following her junior and senior campaigns. She earned Second Team All-State honors after her junior year, and as a senior she was named to the First Team Super State squad after leading the Spartans to a 29-10 record and a 2003 State Tournament appearance. That same year, Rachel was recognized as a Prepvolleyball.com All-American and earned a place on the Junior Olympic All-America Team. Additionally, she earned All-America honors at the 2004 Junior Olympics where she helped her squad to a runner-up finish. To complement her phenomenal volleyball skills, Rachel was also a four-year letterwinner in basketball, and started on the East High teams who finished as 2003 State Runners-Up and 2004 State Champions. She went on to star in volleyball at the University of Nebraska where she appeared in three Final Fours and played a crucial role in their 2006 National Championship. She was named a Husker co-captain and was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. Rachel continues to be involved in the Lincoln volleyball community as she raises her children, Everleigh and Embree.
