No other Spartan swimmer did more to put East High on the map than John Wilson. His work ethic and team spirit brought out the best in his teammates and coaches. John captured four individual conference titles and established two conference records. A dominant force in the 100 and 200 yard freestyles, he brought to East High State Championships in 1985 and 1986. In 1985 Wilson was named the outstanding male swimmer at the state meet. His senior year he was awarded All-American status in two events.
