He was a powerful record-setting home run hitter prior to the selection of All-State teams in Nebraska. However, his greatest accomplishment was as a running back in football. Known as a “Do It All” back, his record rushing, blocking, receiving and defensive play led the Spartans to undefeated seasons in 1974 and 1975; and back-to-back state championships. The “Fastest Back” to ever play for the Spartans, holder of many school and state play-off records, he was selected All-City, All Conference and first team All-State both as a junior and senior. Considered by many coaches and fans to be the greatest back in East High history.
